Day 243 – Fort Lauderdale, FL to Palm Harbor Marina, West Palm Beach, FL - March 5, 2012

Today we were up early, checked out shortly after 7:00am and off the dock by 7:30am.  We don’t have all that many miles to travel today, but we do have 19 bridges and 8 or 9 of them will have to open for us.

This stretch of the Atlantic ICW is one beautiful town after another.  Although I know that the Cape Coral area of Florida is known for its canals, I had no idea that this part of Florida had canals as well.  The homes on these canals are beautiful (and big) and many of them have a fabulous boat moored in their deep-water slip.  It certainly makes traveling here a feast for the eyes.

             Miles: 37.2      Bridges: 19      Locks: 0

one mega-yacht after another

the homes are spectacular as well

there is just one home along the whole length of  this
white painted breakwall

the 2+ story tall windows on this home are amazing
(I wonder what they do when threatened by a hurricane)

Ocean Avenue Bridge - one of the 19 we navigated through today
and certainly the most interesting looking
