Days 33 and 34 - anchored in Spring Lake in Stahl Bayou - August 8-9, 2011
We have decided to anchor out in Spring Lake for a few days. As you move up the lake from Grand Haven, you leave the marinas behind and discover this is a beautiful lake with a high bank nearly all the way around. Marvelous lake homes with fabulous views line the banks. Everyone seems to have a dock and a boat – everything from small fishing and ski boats all the way up to 50 footers. Our anchorage in Stahl Bayou is beautiful. It is peaceful and quiet without much boat traffic. We understand from Fred III that during the Coast Guard festival this bayou is packed with boats, but now it is just us and the wildlife. There are very nice homes around the Stahl Bayou, but only about a third of the residents were home last night. This morning the lake was glass smooth with a little fog; very beautiful.
