Day 36 - Grand Haven to Saugatuck - August 11, 2011

We departed Keenan Marina around 11:00 and headed to North Shore Marina at the mouth of the Grand River for fuel.  We have been calling the various marinas along our route to check fuel prices so that we can make smart decisions about when and where to get fuel.  North Shore has the best price in this area, so we topped off the aft tank.  Then it was out the channel and on to Saugatuck.

There was lots of left over swell (waves) from the last few days of heavy wind and we did a bit of rocking and rolling – nothing horrible, but we have had better travel days from a waves perspective.  Other than that it was beautiful – sunny and in the 70’s with light winds.  We stayed almost three miles off shore hoping the swell would be less, so we didn’t have a very scenic trip – not much to see from that far out.
