Day 372 – Camelot Island to Confederation Basin, Kingston, Ontario - July 12, 2012

We have a short trip planned for today to the town of Kingston, Ontario.  We have raced our International 110 sailboat here in Kingston three times in the last ten or twelve years, so we are slightly familiar with the town.  We are very much looking forward to dinner tonight at our favorite restaurant, Wooden Head.

Just as we cleared the breakwater at the Confederation Basin and contacted the harbor staff for a slip assignment, we realized that our Gold Looper friends Greg and Sally on Odyssey were right behind us making their way into the basin.  We knew that Greg and Sally were in the area (heading back to Michigan after completing the mini-Loop and visiting Quebec) and we had hoped to connect with them along the Trent-Severn Waterway.  Without any planning at all, we were sharing a dock in Kingston.

We enjoyed catching up with Greg and Sally and learning more about what we would be encountering on the next section of our trip.  They also joined us for dinner (followed by some awesome ice cream).  Kingston is hosting the Buskers (street performers) Festival this weekend, so we enjoyed our ice cream and checked out some of the performances.

the 1000 Islands is a beautiful place to cruise - we never get tired of the scenery

this sailboat is carrying his dinghy in a most unusual way - it is stern
to stern with his sailboat and then the bow is held up with a halyard
making the dinghy "hover" over the water
