Day 368 – Clayton, NY to Thousand Island Club, Alexandria Bay, NY - July 8, 2012

An extremely short day takes us just over ten miles down the St. Lawrence River to the Thousand Island Club across from Alexandria Bay.  In spite of the short distance we traveled, the scenery we encountered was breathtaking.  The water is an amazing color of blue and the islands are granite like the ones we love in the North Channel.  The big difference is that this area is very developed while the North Channel is not.  If it is even remotely possible to have built a house on an island here, then one has been built.  From what we have seen so far, this is indeed a great place for cruising and we are glad we have a few days to explore the area.
            Miles: 10.3      Bridges: 1        Locks: 0

some islands are too small for a house

a two story house and a small out building on this island

lots more buildings on this small island

when you need more space, just add a bridge to the island next door

Lighthouse on Rock Island

really small island with a really small house

not all of the islands are small and some of the homes are amazing

a decent sized island with a large boat and a very large house
