Day 347 – Atlantic City, NJ to Hoffman’s Marina, Manasquan, NJ - June 17, 2012

The weather is slightly improved today – not enough to travel outside in the ocean, but we should be all right travelling on the NJ ICW.  The tides are more on our side than they have been over the past few days so we should make it through the areas with shallow water on a rising or high tide.  We will get into Manasquan as we are nearing low tide, but there are not any serious water depth issues on that end of the trip.

It was a long travel day today (eight hours of travel time) and the wind was cold – I would guess that the wind chill was probably in the 50’s.  I was in jeans, fuzzy slippers and a fleece jacket and I was wrapped in a fleece blanket and I was still cold.

The good thing is that although we saw some very shallow water, none of us (Boreas, Something Special or Glory Days) ran aground.  We would like to thank all the Loopers (including John and Mary on Passport) who covered this stretch of the NJ ICW before us for giving us a heads up on what to watch out for. Our advice to future Loopers is to travel this section on a rising tide by leaving Atlantic City one to two hours before high tide in Atlantic City.

one of the beautiful homes along the Manasquan River

we thought the picture above was of a big, beautiful home until we saw
this one a little further along the river - all I can say is Wow!
