Day 334 – at Annapolis Harbor mooring field, Annapolis, MD - June 4, 2012

We had a busy day planned today.  I found a hair salon here in Annapolis and made myself an appointment for this morning (always a traumatic experience when you are away from your favorite stylist who knows you so well and never gives you a bad cut).  Fortunately my hair looks great and we also got a few banking chores accomplished.

From there we headed to the United States Naval Academy and got signed up for a guided tour.  What an amazing campus and an amazing program to develop the future leaders of our military.  The majority of the midshipmen are away from campus now for their summer assignments and the plebes (the new freshman class) have not yet arrived, so things were relatively quiet.  The academy takes this “quiet time” to show high school students a bit about life at the academy.  Over the next six weeks, 3600 11th grade students will spend a week here on campus and experience life at the academy.

The buildings here are spectacular and we got a chance to look inside  a few of them including Bancroft Hall, the largest dormitory in the U.S., the Main Chapel with its fabulous stain glass windows and Dahlgren Hall where many midshipmen social activities take place.  It was a great tour and we were glad we had a chance to visit this beautiful campus.

Shortly after getting back to Boreas from our Academy tour, Fred got a call from another Looper couple here in Annapolis who got our contact information from Joe on Glory Days.  We met Keith and Joyce from Great Mates II and enjoyed drinks and dinner together and had a second great evening sharing Looper tales.
