Day 354 – at Kingston City Marina, Kingston, NY - June 24, 2012

With all our touring over the last two days we have not had any time to do any boat chores, so we have decided to stay an additional day in Kingston and see what we can get done.  This morning it was a good scrubbing for the boat as we are for the most part out of salt water.  The dockmaster here says that although Kingston experiences tides (almost five foot of tide in fact) that the water is all fresh as the salt water can’t make its way this far up the river.  The tide is just pushing fresh water this far away from the ocean.  We also got completely caught up on laundry.  The marina doesn’t have any laundry facilities, but since we have a car, we lugged everything to a laundromat and got everything done in record time.

This afternoon Ann and Gerry from Polaris came to visit us in Kingston.  We first met them at the AGLCA Rendezvous at Joe Wheeler.  Ann and Gerry are in the planning stages of their Loop and if everything goes well they plan to start Looping from their mooring near Boston next summer.  Polaris is a pilothouse sailboat and Ann and Gerry wanted to talk about the Loop from a sailor’s perspective – which hopefully we can give even though we are doing our Loop in a powerboat (we are still sailors at heart).  Following an animated discussion on Looping, the crews from Polaris, Something Special and Boreas walked to one of the restaurants in Kingston.
