Day 396 – at Killbear Marina, Nobel, Ontario - August 5, 2012

We stayed another day at Killbear Marina and watched the wind blow.  The weather pattern Fred is watching has not moved through us yet, so we are not moving.  We have been watching lots of other boats arrive here at Killbear Marina (maybe from anchorages where it was getting uncomfortable?).

Fred used the time off traveling today to do some work on the starboard engine.  It has been heating up a bit more than the port engine when we run harder than our normal 1200 rpm’s.  He checked the impeller, which fortunately looks great.  Then he started in on the heat exchangers.  One is easy to get to so he took it apart and looked for blockages in the tubes.  Things looked OK, although there were a few tubes that could use some work.  He did what he could with the tools at hand.  The other two heat exchangers will have to wait until we are back in Bay City.  Along with the raw water intake strainer cleaning from the other day, next time we run we’ll see if we have improved the higher temperature situation.
