Day 394 – anchored in Shotgun Harbor, near Massasauga Provincial Park (Port Rawson) - August 3, 2012

Today is the start of a Canadian long holiday weekend.  Due to the holiday, we were a bit concerned about finding a marina that was available, so we called in advance and made reservations at Killbear Marina for two nights, starting tomorrow.  There is potential for some unsettled weather this weekend so we wanted to be prepared.

We are happy with our anchorage here in Shotgun Harbor, so we have decided to stay here another night instead of searching out a different anchorage.  We put down the dinghy and did a bit of exploring in Port Rawson Bay where there are a number of other very nice anchorages.  We have very much enjoyed our time in the southeast portion of Georgian Bay and will definitely try to find time to get back here again in the near future.

We even got a few boat chores done today, including a good scrubbing of all the decks around the helm station and the back porch.  Both areas got very wet (and dirty) on the day we traveled in the rain and they needed a good cleaning.  We also went swimming and did a bit of boat scrubbing from in the water – Fred worked on scraping junk off the trim tabs and the raw water intake strainers and I cleaned up the waterline.  It always feels good to hang out on a clean boat.
