Day 305 – at Manteo Waterfront Marina, Manteo, NC - May 6, 2012

We spent the day relaxing on the boat in Manteo.  The marina is in great shape, but we understand that when Hurricane Irene came through last August, things were not good.  Apparently this area was without power for five weeks following the storm.  All the docks and boardwalks around the marina have been repaired and the town looks good as well.  We walked around a bit, but since it is Sunday, many of the shops are closed.  Hopefully we will be able to explore again over the next couple of days.  We are renting a car tomorrow so that we can explore the Outer Banks, including a trip to Cape Hatteras and Kill Devil Hills (where the Wright brothers made their first flight).
