Today was another lower mileage day. We are timing our travel to arrive at Fort Loudoun Marina on Saturday so we can meet up with Fred III on Sunday, as a result, we don’t have to push very hard.
We continue to marvel at how much we like Watts Bar Lake. We are actually traveling north in this stretch of the Tennessee River and so we’re seeing a bit more fall color. One of the surprising things we saw in the river today is a grain silo. When the Watts Bar Dam was closed in 1942, there were a number of farms that were flooded. The TVA removed the buildings and homes that were in the flood area, but they left the grain silos. It is very strange to see the top of a silo sticking out of the water.
