We spent Sunday doing boat chores – mostly washing and cleaning, getting ready for Fred III and Taylor to get to Trenton. They got here in the late afternoon and we had dinner out and enjoyed their company for the rest of the evening.
On Monday we left Frasier Park Marina for a locking adventure. We first stopped on the lower lock wall of Lock #1 and walked up to the lockmaster’s office so we could determine what type of pass we would need for our travels today and then for the rest of our trip to Port Severn. We ended up purchasing a one day pass for today. Then when we are ready to begin our transit of the entire Waterway, we will purchase a transit pass which allows you to go from one end of the Waterway to the other in only one direction. They will apply what we paid for our single day pass to the cost of the transit pass which saves us money.
Once we had our pass we preceded into Lock #1 with Fred III handling the captain duties and Fred, Taylor and Julaine taking care of tending the lines. It was fun to have four people on the boat for locking through and Fred got much different view of going into locks – until today he had only entered and exited a lock while sitting in the helm seat. We then went through Lock #2, tied Boreas to the upper lock wall and enjoyed some lunch. When lunch was done we reversed course and headed back to Trenton – two locks up, two locks down and back to the wall at Frasier Park Marina – what a great way to spend a day on the water.
