Using the dinghy, Fred took the stern anchor toward shore, keeping the boat basically in line with the wind. He dropped the anchor, I tightened it up and we sat down to relax. Not thirty minutes later it was clear that the stern of the boat was swinging so much that we were dragging the stern anchor all over the anchorage. Three more times we set it with the same result. Finally we decided to just let Boreas swing on the primary anchor. That ended up being the perfect decision as the wind ultimately turned 180 degrees around as the afternoon progressed. The main anchor was well hooked and kept us exactly where we should be. It was a bit unnerving when another boat anchored quite close to us, but in spite of all the moving around, we were never in any real danger of a collision.
The wind died down in the evening and we enjoyed watching the full moon rise over the trees.

the scenery here in Georgian Bay is just beauiful - mostly rocks and trees with a few cottages thrown in |
sometimes the channel goes near the rocks (and sometimes it goes even closer) |
this is our view at anchor |
and a close-up of the amazing root structure of the pine tree that is growing right out of the rocks |
the moon rises on a calm peaceful anchorage |
