Day 61 – Bar Island anchorage to Illinois Riverdock Restaurant, Hardin, IL - September 5, 2011

Another good travel day.  The lock today was at the beginning of the trip and although we had to wait for a bit to be locked through, we departed the lock just after 9am and were on our way toward the Illinois Riverdock Restaurant.

Occasionally in this stretch we see a few more hills and some rock cliffs in the distance.  We expect to see more of these tomorrow as we finish our travels on the Illinois River and head into the Mississippi River.

I do have to mention that we probably had the best dinner we’ve had so far on the trip at the restaurant here.  Everything is just plain old home cooking and absolutely delicious.  There was enough food served on each plate that we will probably be able to eat leftovers for two meals.  And don’t get me started about the pie – the biggest pieces you’ve ever seen and they tasted amazing.

            Miles: 59.3      Bridges: 7        Locks: 1

  1. Are you going to be encountering locks all the way down to the Gulf or are they mostly in the Illinois area?
