We had a leisurely start to the day, departing from Hontoon Landing Resort just after 10:00am. The ride was extremely easy today with very light winds and warm temperatures. The wildlife on the St. John’s River is truly amazing to see and we are thrilled we took the time for this side-trip.
We enjoyed our anchorage at Morrison Island so much on the way up the river that we decided to stay here again for the night. We are anchored just after 1:00pm and we drop the dinghy and with the Once Around crew, head to a tiny little restaurant just outside the town of Astor for lunch. The restaurant may have been tiny but the burgers and onion rings were spectacular.

this tree seems to be the local Wood Stork hang-out (they were in this
same tree when we went passed them before) - there are also a couple of
Black Vultures in the upper left-hand corner of the picture |
|
Wood Storks look completely different when they are flying because
you can see the black feathers that are on the back side of their wings |
